I am beyond THRILLED to tell you that we meet our goal of donating 100lbs of food to the Food Bank of Larimer County! Thank you to everyone who made a donation! I love being able to help our community while also giving my clients a break on their regular massages! This is my 4th year to do the food drive and this was the most successful year, perhaps because we bumped it up to November! The previous years we did the food drive in December. Can't wait to do this again! The food banks in Colorado (and across the nation) are in dire need of extra donations this year. When I dropped the food off the line was the longest I have ever seen here in Fort Collins. It can be a bit overwhelming when you think about all the suffering in our world. But what we really need to do is look at our own communities. We need to lift up those in need in Larimer County!
What is stress?? Stress is a physical, mental or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation. ie. heart disease or cancer. Mental stress can lead to anxiety, heightened heart rate and overall bodily discomfort. Many experience muscular tension and have weakend areas of the body that "hold stress." Stress can manifest in your neck, shoulders, lower back, hips, or even internally in our gastrointestinal system. Many of us are unequipped to handle the amount of stress put upon our lives. To manage your stress, consider more regular massage treatments. Therapeutic massage provides countless health benefits and has been recognized by the medical field as an effective tool to manage pain as well as stress. I cannot stress enough to you the importance of caring for your body and mind. Because we have been conditioned to ignore our needs, we may not realize the damage we do to ourselves by taking on too much stress. The end of the work week is a great time to schedule yourself a massage treatment. If the physiological benefits are not enough reason for you then think of it as a treat or reward for all the hard work you do. Kites in the Park Day 2010! You can find me at Kites in the Park 2010. Fort Collins own kite festival and free family fun day! This year the festival is back at Spring Canyon Park South Overland Dr. and Blue Leaf Dr. on Saturday, May 1st. Join the kite flying fun! Stop by the Need For Relief booth for quick chair massage! I've been doing some research on the benefits of massage therapy and your immune system. Regular massage treatments, one or more per month, increase the efficiency of the circulatory and lymphatic systems. The circulatory system is responsible for bringing nutrients to cells and removing toxic byproducts of metabolism. Meanwhile the lymphatic system is responsible for removing such toxins and capturing and destoying invading bacteria and viruses. By increasing lymphatic flow, massage therapy directly enhances the immune system. Massage is most notible for reducing stress. But have you though about the negative effects stress has on your immune system? The stress hormone cortisol is responsible for killing off our bodies natural "killer cells." We need this cells to fight off illness. Massage therapy has been proven to increase production of these killer cells while reducing the cortisol. It also increases production of dopamine and serotonin our happy hormomes. :) Welcome to my NEW website. Take a look around and tell me what you think. I've been wanting to switch my URL for marketing purposes, and to revamp the site overall. Thanks for looking! Have you had a massage lately..? |
