Are you new to massage? Here are some tips to help you know what to expect from a session.
Q. How long is a session?
A. A typical session is either 30, 60, or 90 minutes.
Q. Do I need to take my clothes off?
A. For a deep tissue or swedish massage it is neccessary to undress to your comfort level but know that direct contact with the skin is best. Different sessions can be done through clothing such as Shiatsu or Reiki Energy treatments. After we determine our mode of treatment during the intake process, I will step out of the room and allow ample time for you to disrobe and get settled under the blankets on the treatment table. My draping techniques only expose the area we are currently working on and leave you feeling safe & secure.
Q. Does massage hurt?
A.Massage therapy should NEVER hurt or be painful. During a session it is important to inform the therapist about any discomfort you experience, be it physically or emotionally.
Q. How will I feel after the treatment?
A. Immediatly following a massage you will feel relaxed and rejuvinated. Some feel sleepy, others feel energized, depending on the techniques used. It is important to rehydrate and encourage the flushing movement of toxins that are stored in the tissues. The following day there may be some slight soreness after doing deep tissue but it should not be uncomfortable.

Other things to know before your session..
*New patients please arrive 10 minutes early for health intake forms and interview.
*Arrive at EVERY appointment hydrated. Dehydration can make muscle tissue feel gritty and sticky making it difficult for me to work. Dehydration can leave you feeling light headed and in some cases ill after a treatment.
*Use the restroom BEFORE your session so you don't cut into your massage time by getting up off the table, or have the discomfort of "holding it."
*Although you may feel like a million bucks after your first massage, it is crucial to understand that any type of body work is a slow and gradual process. Allow yourself the benefits of healing the natural way by understanding multiple sessions are necessary.
*I generally have bottled water available for you, but encourage you to bring your own reusable water container.
*My schedule is available online and I am available by appointment only.
